CARNARVON CASTLE  (Union-Castle Mail Steamship Company ) Sailed from DURBAN and MOMBASA arriving on the 28th of June in  SOUTHAMPTON with over 1000 Polish Displaced women, children and the elderly and were assigned to DAGLINGWORTH CAMP in Gloucestershire

In 1948 Daglingworth served as a transit camp for displaced persons coming from Africa and Europe including Germany.  In the 50s the camp became a permanent family camp run by th N.A.B. with a school and church. The camp closed in 1961/62.
